Getting started with your chatbot

Creating your Proto chatbot is easy. Below are simple instructions on how to start setting up your chatbot.

Adding members to your company account

Members have access to your Proto chatbot platform. There are 2 types of members: Admin and Managers. Admins have access to the Billing section while Managers do not.

To add members to your Proto platform, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the company image on the lower left side.
  2. Click on Members.
  3. Click on Add Users button on the upper right side.
  4. Enter the email address of the person you want to give access to your Proto platform.
  5. Select Admin or Manager.
  6. Click on Add.

You can also add users/agents to your bots and teams in this section.

Editing the chatbot

To edit the content of your chatbot, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Build tab.
  2. Under My bots, click on the bot you want to edit.
  3. Click on the block that you want to edit.
  4. Edit whichever part of the content that you would like to edit.
  5. Click on Enter to apply the changes.
  6. Some features have a Save button; make sure to click on it to apply the changes that you have made.

Adding new questions and answers

To add new questions and answers, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Build page.
  2. Under My bots, click on the bot you want to edit.
  3. Go to the the block that you want to edit (eg. the CHAT START block if you want the bot to understand a direct user query/question).
  4. Click on a Green Human icon.
  5. Click on Message.
  6. Under True, type the question your customers would ask or keyword they would use to get a specific answer.
  7. Click on Enter.
  8. Your newly created message block will appear.
  9. Click on the Blue Bot icon.
  10. Click on Bot Message.
  11. Under Phrases, type the answer to the question that you have just created.
  12. Click on Enter.
  13. To test what you have created, click on Test Chat on the upper right.
  14. Type the question that you have entered in your new message block.
  15. Click on Enter.

Testing the chatbot

To test your chatbot, follow these steps:

  1. On the Build page, click on Test Chat on the upper right.
  2. Type a question or keywords.
  3. Click on Enter.

You can also add users/agents to your bots and teams in this section.

  1. On the Build page, click on Channels.
  2. Click on the Channel that you wish to test.
  3. Under Settings, scroll down and click on the Open demo page link.
  4. Type a question or keywords.
  5. Click on Enter.

Keeping the conversation going

To make a conversation jump from one message block to another, follow these steps:

  1. Under the bot block where you want the conversation to move to another block, click on the Blue Bot icon.
  2. Click on Jump.
  3. Type the block name or block ID on the space provided for.
  4. Click on Save.
  5. To test what you have created, click on Test Chat on the upper right.
  6. Type the question that you have entered in your new message block.
  7. Click on Enter.

Adding additional channels

To create a new channel, follow these steps:

  1. On the Build page, click on Channels on the upper right side.
  2. Click on Create Channel on the upper right side.
  3. Select the type of channel that you wish to create in the dropdown menu.
  4. Type the Channel name.
  5. Select the language in the dropdown menu.
  6. Click on Create.
  7. If you click on your new channel, you will see its own settings.
  8. To enable your channel, toggle the Status switch. It is enabled if it is in yellow.
