Proto is proud to announce the launch of its advanced voice AI technology for the Tagalog language, a critical milestone and market-first in enhancing accessibility for over 28 million native speakers in the Philippines.
This initiative, made possible through a funding partnership with ScaleAI in Canada and the Gates Foundation, addresses the longstanding gap in AI solutions tailored for low-resourced languages.
Building on its successful deployments across the Philippines, Proto’s voice AI will support applications in government services, financial institutions, healthcare, and transportation. This development aligns with the nation’s new Internet Transactions Act, which mandates increased accessibility for citizens in their preferred languages. By integrating automated speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities, Proto’s AI Customer Experience (AICX) platform ensures seamless and natural interactions between AI assistants and Tagalog-speaking customers.
Additionally, Proto’s multilingual capabilities enable smooth transitions between text and voice chats, as well as the mixture of Tagalog of English (known as Taglish), offering unparalleled AI inclusivity in the country.

The growing reliance on messaging apps for commerce in emerging markets has highlighted the need for advanced voice AI solutions. Proto’s Tagalog voice AI addresses this demand by enabling businesses to talk with customers through their preferred communication channels. From resolving customer complaints to facilitating financial transactions, this technology represents a transformative leap in customer service.
Proto’s work in the Philippines is already making an impact, with partnerships spanning thirty government agencies and numerous enterprises. These collaborations include supporting financial literacy campaigns and improving multilingual consumer protection. Notable projects include Proto’s work with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for AI-powered financial consumer protection.
Proto has also partnered with The Medical City, one of the Philippines’ leading healthcare providers, to improve patient experience through AI-enabled communication systems. This collaboration has enhanced patient interactions, appointment scheduling, and improved accessibility for Tagalog-speaking patients. Additionally, Proto supports the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines with AI-powered citizen experience solutions, ensuring that securities regulation are more accessible and user-friendly for the public.
The introduction of voice AI for Tagalog not only enhances these efforts but also sets the stage for expanded use cases, such as educational support and disaster response communication. By focusing on inclusivity and cultural relevance, Proto is leading the charge in creating AI solutions that truly resonate with local communities.
